Rick Turn's 29

We went into Penticton to the Kettle Valley Pub for Rick's B-day this weekend. Here's Kris, Adrienne, Baker, Crystal, Sue, Rick, Dave and Kevin. Man that pub has good nachos. We took off home after the pub as I had to work Sunday morning. But the rest of the gang hit the casino for some gambling. Rick had already won over 50 bucks at the pub playing pull tabs, but I understand no one won big at the casino. Posted by Picasa

Happy January Cards

Oh my god, it's taken a month, but I am finally once again caught up on my blog. I also finally finished the creation of our annual Xmas photo. I will be working in the photolab this weekend, so hopefully I can get them all printed and in the mail by next weekend. Only a little over a month late! Posted by Picasa

Dinner at Cattle Country

Dave had given gift certificates to Cattle Country to us and K&A for Xmas. So we decided to have and evening out. Cattle Country is a nice Steakhouse in Downtown Kelowna with a view of the lake. Above is Mokoto, Dave, Sue, Rick, Kevin, and Adrienne. I'm of course taking the photo, and Kris is off somewhere chasing Hannah...
Rick had to sprawl out on the couch in the entryway, even though he did not have the 24ounce steak. (He still had a huge slab'o'beef)
Our entertainment sat at the head of the table. Showing off her vast knowledge of dinner theatre!

More Hemlock

Unfortunately with all that new snow the weather warmed up a bit too much. Snow became rain and conditions sucked. Paula had to teach her lessons (Ithink they all no showed) and Jules had to work her first shift as a mountain worker digging out lifts. Me, Kevin and Dave hit the lodge for some eats before Me and Kevin hit the road home.

Hemlock

After Body Worlds we drove to Hemlock to spend the evening with Dave, Paula, and Jules. and Paula's familys cabin. They had no power when we arrived but we still had a great evening playing Monopoly by candle and fire light. It snowed like mad all night long (we actually almost got stuck on the way up the mountain. They had gotten stuck the day before and had to go back and get their car earlier that afternoon) The next day we awoke to over 2 feet of snow (can you find my car)
Glady snow removal is part of their Strata fee
Kevin tried to assist the plow, then he gave up as seen below

Wow a long weekend

I got a long weekend at work... 4 days off for no reason.... cool. Me and Kevin decided to drive down to the coast the see the "Body Worlds III" exhibit at science world before it ended. And to get in a visit with a few of our friends. Body Worlds was kind of sureal and creepy, but what is one to expect from an exhibit made up of placticized dead people.
The day we left we woke in the morning to a foot of beautiful powder in the driveway, and thought what the hell are we doing, driving to the coast, we should be hitting the slopes. The Coke was kinda trecherous. You can see in the picture above, crazy amounts of snow. Just before Hope we saw a roadblock for the eastbound traffic. They closed the road, I'm sure their was a roadblock somewhere behind us, probably set up shortly after we passed.
We went for lunch at The Reef on Main St.. Who doesn't love eating Jamacan food, drinking tropical drinks while sitting on a heated patio in the middle of winter. Steve, Joyce, James and Jacquie joined us before we left for Body Worlds

New Year's Day

We decided we wanted to go to Big White for some New Year's day riding. We left from Kris and Adrienne's and took the back road. The road we took is the Okanagan Falls Forest Service Road. Needless to say this was no highway. Its a road that one would need a 4X4 for in the summer, but with enough snow, and when plowed is somewhat better. Unfortunately at the halfway point where the road splits it was no longer plowed. It took us over 2 hours to get to Big White. The drive was fun, but we really weren't sure if we would get stuck or not. Before leaving we made arrangements for Kris to come looking for us if we hadn't called in 2 hours. When we finally got some cel reception we called to let them know we were okay, and Kris had just left. Luckily he had only gotten as far as the gas station, and Adrienne called him to come home.
When we did arrive at Big White it was well past noon, and the mountain was fogged in. As most know, its just not worth it when Big White turns into the Big White-Out. So we turned and headed back to Kelowna (on the regular road) and caught up with Dave for a burger and a beer before heading home. Posted by Picasa
